Washing Hands Effectively

In light of growing concerns about food contamination, it's important to remember how to properly wash hands. Use this recipe to show workers or your children how long it actually takes to remove bacteria.

Ingredients: One teaspoon vegetable oil per 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Combine these ingredients and pour onto the fronts and backs of your hands and fingers. Wash with warm, soapy water. It will require approximately 20 seconds of vigorous washing to completely remove the cinnamon and oil.

Remember this every time you wash -- that to effectively remove bacteria, it requires 20 seconds of vigorous action with plenty of soap and warm water.
