LNG Pipe Test Successfully Completed
Proforma Safety International has just completed another safety assurance assignment for BP during Phase Two of the cryogenic testing of various materials to be used in the transportation of LNG (liquefied natural gas). Under a joint partnership between BP and Chart Industries in New Iberia, Louisiana, the test were conducted under controlled conditions and provided valuable information for future pipeline construction projects.
PSI provided the on-site HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) Coordinators to assure all test and various operations connected with their set-up, were preformed in accordance to the Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard Operations (HAZOPS) directives compiled by PSI early last year.
Several hazardous materials were present during the six month long test including pressure containing vessels, earth moving machinery and cranes making heavy overhead lifts. The project logged some 65,000 man hours worked without a single OSHA recordable incident, first aid case, day-away-from-work case, vehicle accident or any equipment damage. Mike Arnold, the PSI assigned Site Safety Person also served as the site Medic and the Emergency Services Coordinator for the entire project.
