Basic Lifting Guidelines

  1. Stop, check and think
  2. Position the feet close to the load and a shoulder width apart
  3. Adopt a good posture-bend knees and keep back straight
  4. Get a firm grip of the load
  5. Lift with your legs, raising head and shoulders first
  6. Keep load close to the body
  7. Move or change position with your feet – do not twist/stretch your back
